KELLAM MARCHING KNIGHTS

 

 

Mr. Cameron Baker:  Director of Bands/Drill Writer

 

 

            Mr. Cameron Baker (a native of Smithfield, NC) is entering his third year as the Director of Bands at Kellam High School.  For two years previous to Kellam, Mr. Baker had been working in the small, rural town of LaGrange, NC where he served as the Director of Bands at E.B. Frink Middle School.  Mr. Baker is a 2004 graduate of East Carolina University, where he holds a Bachelor’s of Music Degree in Music Education. 

            Mr. Baker has performed with many outstanding groups over the years.  Some include the 2002 Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI) Division II World Champion Magic of Orlando, as well as the 1999 and 2000 Division I world finalist Carolina Crown.  Most recently, Mr. Baker has been a member of the 2005 Drum Corps Associates (DCA) World Finalist Carolina Gold.  Mr. Baker arrived to Kellam in the summer of 2006 after a national tour teaching the DCI Division II World Finalist Teal Sound Drum and Bugle Corps.  Mr. Baker is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, the Virginia Music Educator’s Association, the Virginia Beach Educator’s Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Symphonia, professional Music Fraternity for men. 

Mr. Baker is very excited to be returning to Kellam and looks forward to teaching students to have the same passion and drive for music he has.

 

Ms. Jessica Baker:  Visual Coordinator

 

 

Jessica Baker (Wheeler) is a 2005 graduate of East Carolina University where she received her Bachelors of Music in music therapy. She is a native Virginia Beach resident having graduated from Kempsville High School and the Virginia Governors School for the Arts where she was active in both music programs.

Ms. Baker is an accomplished musician and has performed with many high quality ensembles including the East Carolina University Symphony Orchestra and the East Carolina Chorus.  Jessica has performed with the Drum Corps Associates (DCA) World finalist Carolina Gold Drum and Bugle Corps in 2005 and 2006. Her professional membership includes the Music Educators National Conference, Virginia Music Educators Association, American Music Therapy Association, and Sigma Alpha Iota, professional women's music fraternity. 

Ms. Baker is a positive influence for any student to follow and is a great attribute to the Kellam Marching Knights.  Ms. Baker is in her third year working with the Kellam Marching Knights as Visual Coordinator.

 

Ms. Kristen Tarantino:  Guard Coordinator

 

 

          Kristen Tarantino is a 2006 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies while double majoring in Psychology.  She is a native of the Midlothian, Virginia having graduated from Midlothian High School where she was an active colorguard member.

           Ms. Tarantino has had experience performing in both fall colorguard and indoor winterguard.  In 2002, she was the team captain when the winterguard earned a second place ranking in preliminary competition and finished with bronze medals at AIA Championship Finals.  Since graduating from Midlothian, Kristen has been an assistant instructor for both Midlothian High School and Colonial Heights High School.  In 2006, she assisted in the construction of Affinty4, an independent winterguard at VCU.  She is thrilled to be working with Kellam and hopes to not only expand the guard program but to ensure that it receives the recognition it deserves.
