I marched with the Knights from 1981-1983.  I played French Horn/Mellophone (Member of the Mellophone Mob).  Our director was David O. Correll.  When I was at Kellam, we were a double A school.  The only High Schools in Virginia Beach were: Kellam, Green Run, First Colonial, Princess Anne, Kempsville, Cox and Bayside.
I now live in Texas and play bass guitar.

Snare

1982 through 1984

I was in the drum line, snare, from 1982 through 1984. For the most part we were unbeaten, especially in 1984. What a great time that was. I still play drum, but now I play for the US Army. I am currently in the United States Army Japan Band in Tokyo Japan. The URL for the Japan Band is: http://www.usarj.army.mil/organization/296band/index.htm

I also play in several bands in the Tokyo area, we play everything from Rock to Jazz Fusion, to Hip Hop. It's still a great time every time I get to play for a crowd. Music is a great way to have fun, and make a boat load of money   Not sure if I was the only person that Mr. Correll ever hit with his baton...Wow what a party!!

Barbara J. Grecco (formerly Virgallito)

STAFF During David "Doc" Correll Years bjgrecco@cox.net Color Guard Instructor Some of you may remember me as Barbara Virgallito! I had the distinct pleasure of being on staff during the "Doc" Correll years as the color guard instructor and (I hate to admit) the inception of the Bumble Bee yellow uniforms! Yikes, I'm sorry but it was a choice between brown mustard gold and the Bumble Bee. The years I instructed Kellam boasted a guard of 30-36 flags and rifles. Some of you may remember the curved flag poles and the pink twinkle chiffon flags or maybe the very first set of professionally sewn flags that looked like Tucan Sam! My fondest Kellam memories remind me that the band was always pushing the creative envelope. I went back to college in 1984 and many of my students were my study mates at Old Dominion University. I leave you with these fond memories: the moose cup, the Florida trip we left the uniforms in VB, the half time show we were forced to cancel because the field was too wet - when we left at the end of that second quarter the stands emptied out with us, the slumber party at my house and the "masked marauders" armed with toilet paper we hid from VB's finest! I am the Director of Marketing and Business Development for Rancorn Wildman Architects and I still teach...Granby High School and Denbigh High School.
