I mainly played the Trombone, but I also played the Baritone, Euphonium, French Horn, and the Mellophone. |
I was a part of the Kellam Marching Knights from 1997 to 2000 because I moved to Virginia at the end of my freshman year. I was in Marching band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band. I held Section Leader for Low Brass for three years, and First Chair Wind Ensemble and Jazz for 2 years. The director was Mr. Burke and he was the best director I ever had. I am currently enlisted in the United States Army deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. |
| Candace Weltman | 2000 (In Kansas) |
cweltman@kumc.edu | Color Guard | I graduated from Washburn Rural High School in Topeka KS in 2000. I was a part of the Kellam High School Color Guard in 1996 and that summer I moved to KS and joined the color guard out here. I was color guard captain my senior year and enjoyed every min. of it. I also taught all the girls new things and showed them new flags that they had never seen before, so it was nice to show them things that they were not aware of. I am now a student at the University of Kansas Medical Center and will graduate this spring in Respiratory Therapy. |

2002 | explr1cfd@aol.com | Runner 2000/01 & Color Guard 2001/02 |
My first year in the band I was a runner, that was the fall of 2000/spring of 2001. I was new to the school and had moved from Richmond. I had always wanted to be in marching band, but never learned to play an instrument. My girlfriend at the time suggested that the following year i tryout for color guard. So I spent my first year getting to know the band, making friends and having the time of my life. My senior year I tried out for color guard and got in. I became the first guy on Kellam's color guard in the schools history. I even had the part of "Tony" in the show Westside Story. I'll never forget some of the people that went out of their way to make me feel at home. Thanks to Nathan and Matt I always had something to do. I will always have the moments out on the field, and football games. I graduated in 2002 and moved back to Richmond where I currently live. |
